Melba Escobar (Cali, 1976) estudou Literatura e finalizou os estudos com uma tese sobre o jornalismo literário. Publicou vários títulos infantis antes de escrever o seu primeiro romance, A Casa da Beleza. Na atualidade vive em Bogotá e é colaboradora habitual dos jornais El Espectador e El País. O seu romance A Casa da Beleza, eleito um dos melhores livros pelo Prémio de Novela da Colômbia, foi um sucesso de vendas de direitos na Feira do Livro de Londres e será publicado em mais de 16 países.
