Matthew Williams é professor de Criminologia na Universidade de Cardiff e um dos maiores especialistas do mundo em crimes de ódio, discurso de ódio, cibercrime e extremismo online.
Além da investigação académica, é conselheiro do Home Office e do Ministério da Justiça britânicos e do Departamento de Justiça norte-americano, entre outras instituições oficiais. Dirige também o HateLab, um programa que se debruça sobre o impacto de acontecimentos nacionais no discurso e nos crimes de ódio.
