Mathieu Sapin, nasceu em 7 de outubro de 1974 em Dijon, filho de um arqueólogo que se tornou professor de História da Arte e de uma bibliotecária. Frequentou a Escola de Artes Decorativas de Estrasburgo, secção de ilustração. A partir daqui produziu mais de sete dezenas de álbuns, de Banda Desenhada e infantis, alguns deles com grande projeção mediática em frança. Em 2018 é lançada a sua primeira longa-metragem, enquanto argumentista e realizador, "Le Poulain".
