Mary Jo Putney was born in New York, victim of a reading addiction for which the cure is still unknown. After a degree in English Literature and also in Industrial Design from Syracuse University, he worked in the field of design before dedicating himself to writing. In the meantime, he has published more than 40 books and appeared on almost every US bestseller list. He has also won several RITA awards, as well as other prestigious awards. He currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland, with his loved ones (two- and four-legged), glad that his profession does not require the use of tights.
