Martin Seligman
Dr. Martin Seligman is the author of several best-sellers on motivation and personality development, published in more than 16 languages. Throughout his extensive career, he has been awarded numerous prizes, among which two stand out. Distinguished Scientific Contribution Awards (awards for distinguished scientific contribution), by American Psychological Associationthe Laurel Award, for the American Association for Applied Psychology and Preventionthe Lifetime Achievement Award (career award), by Psychopathology Research Society; and the William James Fellow Award, for the American Psychological Association.
He was the creator of Positive Psychology, a branch of psychology that aims to emphasize the positive aspects of personality. For 14 years he was the director of the clinical training program in the Psychology department at the University of Pennsylvania and was also president of the American Psychological Association.
He is currently the director of the Center for Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.
