Marlene Matos é Doutorada em Psicologia da Justiça pela Universidade do Minho, onde é Professora Auxiliar. Tem desenvolvido investigação sobre Vitimologia, Psicologia Forense e Mudança em Psicoterapia. É psicoterapeuta e perita forense. Coordenou os projetos "Vitimação múltipla de mulheres socialmente excluídas" e "Stalking em Portugal", ambos financiados pela FCT. Coordenou ainda os projetos "GAM: Grupos de Ajuda Mútua para mulheres vítimas de violência", "Avaliação da tramitação criminal do tráfico de pessoas" e "Avaliação do II PNCTSH", financiados pela CIG.
