Mário Carneiro nasceu em Lisboa, em 1966. É jornalista desde 1992 e exerce atividade profissional em televisão desde esse ano. Atualmente, é autor e apresentador de programas de entrevistas exibidos em diversos canais da RTP. É licenciado em Direito pela Universidade de Lisboa, cidade onde vive. Tem dois filhos.
É coautor, com António Luís Marinho, de 1974 – O Ano que Começou em Abril e 1975 – O Ano que Terminou em Novembro, editados pela Temas e Debates e pelo Círculo de Leitores.
