Marie-Louise Gay alcançou notoriedade e prestígio mundiais como autora e ilustradora de livros infantis. Dos prémios ganhos até hoje, destacamos dois: Governor General’s Literary Awards e o Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award. Tem sido finalista dos prémios Astrid Lindgren Memorial e do Hans Christian Andersen. Marie-Louise Gay vive em Montreal e continua a criar livros.
Ao longo de 2018 e de 2019, Mustafa foi nomeado e finalista de vários prémios literários infantis, tendo vencido em novembro o AQPF-ANEL 2019.
