Marianne Fritz (1948-2007), autora austríaca, o seu aclamado romance de estreia, A Gravidade das Circunstâncias, de 1978, marcaria o início de um ambicioso projeto literário, praticamente intraduzível, com mais de dez mil páginas, ao qual dedicou toda a sua vida, afastando-a progressivamente de todo o contacto social e reforçando o seu estatuto de personagem de culto. Entre os seus admiradores estão Elfriede Jelinek ou W. G. Sebald, que lhe dedicou uma passagem no seu romance Os Anéis de Saturno.
