Mariana Ruiz Johnson (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1984) estudou Artes Visuais no Instituto Universitário Nacional de Arte, em Buenos Aires. Formou-se na escola Sótano Blanco, com o ilustrador colombiano José Sanabria, e frequentou workshops de ilustração na Europa. Dá aulas de processos criativos em Sótano Blanco e dinamiza outros seminários de técnicas nesta mesma academia. Para além do VI Prémio Internacional Compostela para Álbuns Ilustrados 2013 com "Mamã" (KALANDRAKA), foi finalista em 2009 do Prémio A la Orilla del Viento do Fundo de Cultura Económica e em 2015 ganhou o Silent Book Contest. Tem vários livros de sua autoria publicados em editoras latino-americanas, europeias e asiáticas.
