María Pilar Queralt del Hierro é licenciada com graduação em História Moderna e Contemporânea pela Universidade de Barcelona (Espanha). Colabora em diferentes média especializados e tem publicado romances e ensaios, centrados em geral no estudo da figura feminina através da história. Para além do seu bestseller Inês de Castro, publicou os romances Eu, Leonor Teles, Memórias da Rainha Santa e As Mulheres de D. Manuel I. No domínio da divulgação histórica, escreveu Mulheres de vida apaixonada, Os amores proibidos de suas majestades e As mulheres do marquês de Pombal. Em 2011, foi-lhe atribuído o Prémio Algaba de Biografia e Investigações Históricas, pela sua obra Las mujeres de Felipe II. Deber y pasión en la casa del rey.
