María Menéndez-Ponte é uma escritora galega, que começou a escrever na década de 1990, depois de ter publicado numerosos artigos em jornais. Viveu em Nova Iorque e, mais tarde, licenciou-se em Filologia Hispânica em Madrid. Embora também escreva romances, os seus livros são direcionados principalmente para o público infantojuvenil. Após vários sucessos na sua carreira, acabou por receber o Prémio Cervantes na categoria infantil e o Livro de Ouro na categoria de romance. É uma referência na área da parentalidade.
Os valiosos conselhos para trabalhar cada emoção foram desenvolvidos pelo Centro La Nau Espacial, especializado em educação emocional.
