Maria José Santana nasceu em 1976, é jornalista. Começou nas rádios e nos jornais locais, colaborando, desde 2005, com o jornal Público. Em 2014, inspirada pela ligação de Ílhavo, onde nasceu e reside, à pesca do bacalhau, lançou o primeiro livro, Até Que o Mar Nos Separe. Cresceu à beira da ria, e é também junto às suas margens, no lugar que Eça de Queiroz classificou como «um dos mais deliciosos pontos do globo», que vive.
