Marcel Gauchet

Marcel Gauchet (nascido em 1946, em Poilley, França) é um historiador, filósofo e sociólogo francês. É professor emérito do Centro de Pesquisa Política Raymond Aron, na École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, e chefe do periódico Le Débat.
Gauchet é um dos intelectuais contemporâneos mais importantes de França. Escreveu amplamente sobre questões como as consequências políticas do individualismo moderno, a relação entre religião e democracia e os dilemas da globalização.
Dois dos livros de Gauchet foram traduzidos para o inglês, incluindo O desencantamento do mundo: uma história política da religião.
Gauchet foi premiado com o European Essay Prize, Fundação Charles Veillon em 2018.
