Manuel Gusmão (nasceu em Évora, em dezembro de 1945 e faleceu a 9 de novembro de 2023, em Lisboa), e foi professor na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa. Foi deputado na Assembleia Constituinte e na 1.ª legislatura da Assembleia da República, eleito pelo PCP. Tem reconhecida obra no domínio do ensaio, designadamente sobre Fernando Pessoa, Carlos de Oliveira, Nuno Bragança, Maria Velho da Costa, Luiza Neto Jorge e Gastão Cruz. Estreou-se como poeta apenas aos 45 anos, em 1990, com "Dois Sóis, A Rosa a Arquitectura do Mundo". Seis anos depois, publicou "Mapas, o Assombro a Sombra". Mas foi com "Teatros do Tempo" que o eco da sua obra (toda publicada na Caminho) se alargou. Além do bom acolhimento crítico, o livro esgotou e foi reeditado em poucos meses.
