Manuel Costa Alves

He was (and always will be) a meteorologist. For years, he presented weather information on... RTP and in TVIIn 1998, he established the relationship between the Meteorological Institute and Civil Protection, and in 2002, he attempted to develop a pilot project for the regionalization of activities, centered in Castelo Branco, on monitoring the vegetative cycle of fruit growing and on the impacts of extreme heat and cold in the district. He was a visiting professor of Climatology at the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda. He maintains regular contributions to the press with his column. "Windmills"first in Daily News and, since returning to his homeland in 2002, in the weekly ReconquestHe compiled and analyzed the meteorological component of popular sayings in "The winds change, the times change" (Gradiva 1996, with expanded editions in 2002 and 2006). He reflected on the times of history and his encounter with a second homeland in "Returning to Timor" (Gradiva, 1998). He recorded reflections on the evolution of ideas throughout his career in "It Could Be Differently" (Ulmeiro, 2000).
He directed the Poetry and Theatre Group. "Hands in the Air" from the Castelo Branco section of the National Association of Teachers.
In 2016, she dared to enter the risky, laborious, and stimulating territory of seeing, feeling, and communicating with the grammars of poetry. She published... "Open Body" and in 2018 "Of Many Winds and Utopia" (CMCB, Alvores Collection).
