Manuel Amaro Bernardo

Manuel Amaro Bernardo, retired Infantry/Army Colonel.
He spent eight years in Africa (Angola and Mozambique), on four mandatory tours of duty (rotation) that he completed between 1961 and 1973.
In the post-April 25th period, he was part of the Command Post in Amadora, involved in containing the coup attempt of November 25, 1975, and holds a supplementary course from UCP (1990/93).
He is the author of Commands in the Axis of the Revolution; Permanent Crisis of the PREC; Portugal 1975/76 (under the pseudonym Manuel Branco), which remained on the bestseller list for six weeks; Marcello and Spinola; The Rupture; The Armed Forces and the Press in the Fall of the Estado Novo; Portugal 1973-1974/1994 (3rd edition/2011); Misconceptions and Realities; Portugal 1974-1975 (Vol. 2)/1999; Fighting in Mozambique; War and Decolonization 1964-1975/2003; Memories of the Revolution; Portugal 1974-1975/2004; War, Peace, and the Execution of Warriors; Guinea 1970-1980/2007.
And in co-authorship: Timor; Abandonment and Tragedy.
