Manuel Alberto Valente (Vila Nova de Gaia, 1945) licenciou-se em Direito pela Universidade de Lisboa, cidade onde reside, mas acabou por dedicar grande parte da sua vida à atividade editorial. Como poeta, a sua obra está compilada em Poesia Reunida – O pouco que sobrou de quase nada (Quetzal, 2015).
Traduziu poesia de Juan Vicente Piqueras, Luis García Montero e Yolanda Castaño. Organizou a antologia Poesia, Substantivo Feminino – 25 poetas nascidas depois do 25 de Abril (Dom Quixote, 2025). Em 2008, foi agraciado pelo Governo Francês com o grau de Cavaleiro das Artes e das Letras e, em 2020, pelo Reino de Espanha com a Ordem de Isabel a Católica.
