Manuel Aires Mateus

Manuel Aires Mateus He was born in Lisbon in 1963 and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Lisbon in 1986, having worked with the architect Gonçalo Byrne between 1983 and 1988.

He was a professor at Harvard's Graduate School of Design in the United States, and currently teaches at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Switzerland, where he develops pedagogical activities whose results he integrates into his projects.

Winner of Pessoa Prize 2017.
