Maite Carranza nasceu em Barcelona, onde sempre viveu, e formou-se em Antropologia. Após alguns anos como professora, começou a escrever argumentos televisivos e literatura. É autora de mais de 50 obras, algumas das quais distinguidas com importantes prémios literários, como o Critic Award de Serra d’Or. O seu importante contributo para a literatura espanhola foi distinguido com o Premio de Literatura en Lengua Castellana Miguel de Cervantes. O Filme da Minha Vida venceu o prémio El Vaixell De Vapor.
