Madame de Staël

Madame de Staël (1766–1817), nome de pena de Anne-Louise Germaine Necker, baronesa de Staël-Holstein, foi uma escritora, ensaísta e pensadora política francesa. Figura central nos debates intelectuais e políticos nos períodos da Revolução Francesa, do Consulado e do Império Napoleónico, exerceu uma grande influência como mediadora entre as ideias do iluminismo e os novos movimentos do romantismo e do liberalismo político. É considerada uma precursora do romantismo francês e uma das primeiras vozes femininas importantes no debate político e cultural europeu.
