Mabel Collins

Mabel Collins nasceu a 9 de setembro de 1851 em Guernsey, Channel Islands. Foi casada com Francis Power Cobbe, de quem enviuvou em 1885, ano em que publica 'Light on the Path' ["Luz Sobre o Caminho"]. No ano anterior publicara 'Idyll of the White Lotus', tendo entrado para a Sociedade Teosófica pouco tempo depois. Segundo terá confidenciado a H.S. Olcott, este seu livro fora escrito em transe ou, nas suas palavras, 'fora do corpo'.
Em 1889, a questão da 'identidade' deste mestre ou guia (designado Mestre Hillarion) viria a gerar algum desconforto entre H.P. Blavatsky e Elliot Cones, envolvendo a própria Mabel Collins. Desconhecemos se a sua saída, nesse ano, da Sociedade Teosófica teve alguma relação com este problema.
Antes, porém, entre setembro de 1887 e outubro de 1888, coeditou em parceria com H.P. Blavatsky a revista 'Lúcifer'. Após a sua saída da Sociedade Teosófica publicou ainda um bom número de livros de dimensão variada, mas menos conhecidos. Faleceu em 31 de março de 1927 em Gloucestershire.
