Maria Amália é natural de Vila Nova de Milfontes, mas desde o primeiro ano de idade que o seu percurso se desenrolou na região de Lisboa, onde cresceu, estudou e desempenhou toda a vida profissional. De regresso à terra que a viu nascer, dedica-se a fazer o que mais gosta: escrever. É fundadora, desde 2013, do Clube de Leitura de Vila Nova de Milfontes e membro da ASSESTA – Associação dos Escritores do Alentejo.
