Luís Farinha reparte a sua vida entre o ensino, a investigação e a disseminação da história e da cultura portuguesa contemporâneas. Está agregado como investigador doutorado ao Instituto de História Contemporânea (FCSH-UNL). Dirigiu e editou a revista História (2002-2007). Foi Comissário da Exposição "Viva a República! 1910-2010" e da Exposição "Morte à Morte!", (A.R., 2017). Dirigiu o Museu do Aljube Resistência e Liberdade (2015-2020). É autor de uma obra diversa no domínio da história e da cultura. Coordena atualmente uma coleção de biografias de deputados constituintes do período democrático (A.R., 2017-2023).
