Luis Alberto Urrea é autor premiado de várias obras de ficção, poesia e não ficção. Nasceu em Tijuana, filho de pai mexicano e mãe americana. Ao longo da carreira, tem recorrido à sua dupla herança cultural para explorar os grandes temas do amor, perda triunfo. A obra The Devil's Highway foi finalista do Prémio Pulitzer e recebeu o Lanna Literary Award. The House of Broken Angels foi finalista do National Book Critics Circle Award enquanto The Hummingbird’s Daughter recebeu o Kiriyama Prize. A sua coletânea de histórias, The Water Museum, foi finalista do Prémio PEN-Faulkner Award. Em 2017, Urrea foi distinguido pela Academia Americana de Artes e Letras.
