Lucy Eyre cresceu em Londres e estudou Filosofia na Universidade de Oxford. Filha do realizador cinematográfico Richard Eyre e da produtora Sue Birtwistle, cedo se habituou à convivência com argumentistas e escritores, como é o caso de Tom Stoppard, David Hare e Ian McEwan. Uma inesperada doença levou-a a ver a vida de uma outra perspectiva. O resultado foi esta sua primeira obra - O Dia em Que Sócrates Vestiu Jeans. Actualmente vive em Addis Abeba, Etiópia.
