Lourdes Custódio nasceu em Luanda, em 1960, e vive na Figueira da Foz. É educadora, formada pela Escola Normal de Educadores de Infância de Coimbra. Até ao momento, a sua obra no domínio da escrita para a infância inclui mais de duas dezenas de títulos, muitos deles recomendados no Plano Nacional de Leitura. Em 2003, o seu livro As filhotas de D. Centopeia venceu o concurso internacional El libro de los cuentos del mundo, atribuído pela Associación Mundial de Educadores Infantiles, sediada em Madrid.
