Liz Pichon estudou design gráfico em Londres e foi diretora de arte numa empresa discográfica. Já como freelancer, a autora decidiu dedicar-se aos livros para os mais pequenos. Apenas como ilustradora na fase inicial desta nova carreira, Liz arrecadou prémios com os seus originais desenhos, inclusive nos EUA.
A coleção já recebeu os principais prémios britânicos da literatura infantil, entre os quais o Red House Children’s Book Award, o Roald Dahl Funny Prize, e o Watertones Children’s Book Prize.
