Lima Barreto

Lima Barreto [1881-1922], filho de pais mestiços e neto de escravos, foi funcionário público e colaborou em vários jornais. Entre crónicas (Os Bruzundangas), contos ("O homem que sabia javanês") e romances (Recordações do Escrivão Isaías Caminha, Triste Fim de Policarpo Quaresma, Vida e Morte de J. M. Gonzaga de Sá), escreveu sobre a raça, as desigualdades sociais e a vida carioca dos primeiros anos do século XX.
