Tomou contacto com o jazz ainda adolescente, no 1.º Festival de Jazz de Cascais, em 1971. Em 2001, co-fundou e dirigiu a primeira revista de jazz nacional, a All Jazz, e, em 2006, criou o site JazzLogical.net. É formado em Antropologia Social pelo ISCTE.
