Leonel Fadigas

Leonel Fatigues, landscape architect and urban planner, holds a PhD in Urban Planning (Technical University of Lisbon, 1995) and a habilitation in Public Administration and Territorial Policies (Technical University of Lisbon, 2011). He was a professor of Landscape Architecture, Urbanism and Spatial Planning at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, and is currently a researcher at CIAUD - Research Centre in Architecture, Urbanism and Design of the same faculty and a member of the College. Food, Farming & Forestry (F3) from the University of Lisbon. Member of Parliament between 1981 and 1987, he chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Social Equipment and Environment (1983-1985).
He is the author of the books Environmental Fundamentals of Land Use and Landscape (2007), Urban Planning and Nature – The Challenges (2010), Urban Planning and Territory – Public Policies (2015) and Territory and Power – Use, Policies and Planning (2017). In 2001 he was awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic by the King of Spain.
