Nasceu no dia 25 de dezembro, dia de Natal, no "Monte da Pia", na propriedade rústica pertença de seus pais, e no pacato lugar de Aldeia do Cano, Freguesia de Cercal, Concelho de Santiago do Cacém. Filho mais novo de uma família numerosa, aqui medrou e fez-se jovem, até que um dia partiu para Lisboa.
Foi estudante trabalhador, antes e depois de casado. As suas prosas e poesias inteligíveis, através de expressões e sentido, são os atributos que o levaram a este desígnio.
