Laura Marshall cresceu em Wiltshire, no sudoeste de Inglaterra, e estudou Inglês na Universidade do Sussex. Quando decidiu que queria escrever, fez formação em Escrita Criativa através de um programa da agência literária Curtis Brown.
O seu primeiro romance, Pedido de Amizade, foi finalista do Bath Novel Award 2016 e alcançou a shortlist para o Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize de 2016. Foi bestseller do Sunday Times e de vendas em e-book. Vive em Kent com o marido e os dois filhos.
