Kishwar Desai tem já uma longa carreira nos media como jornalista, pivot, produtora e directora de um canal televisivo indiano. A Testemunha da Noite venceu o Costa Award 2010 para o Melhor Primeiro Romance, tendo sido finalista do Author’s Club Award 2011 para o Melhor Primeiro Romance e nomeado para o Waverton Good Read 2011 e para o Man Asian Literary Prize 2009. Casada com Lord Meghnad Desai, vive entre Londres, Deli e Goa.
