A historiadora da arte Kia Vahland é especialista no Renascimento e editora de Cultura e Humanidades na secção de opinião do Süddeutschen Zeitung. É professora e autora de obras sobre Sebastiano del Piombo, Miguel Ângelo e Rafael, bem como de diversos ensaios no domínio da história da arte, publicados na revista Geo Epoche. Exerce funções docentes no Kunsthistorischen Institut da Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität de Munique e na Deutschen Journalistenschule. Recebeu diversos prémios pelos seus trabalhos, incluindo o Prémio da Crítica Michael Althen de 2016 do Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung. A editora Insel publicou em 2018 uma coletânea dos seus artigos de opinião, Ansichtssachen. Alte Bilder, neue Zeiten.
