Kevin Brockmeier, escritor norte-americano, nasceu em 1972 e cresceu em Little Rock, Arkansas, onde vive actualmente. Além de Breve História dos Mortos, é também autor do romance The Truth about Celia e do livro de contos Things that Fall from the Sky; assim como dos romances juvenis City of Names e Grooves: A Kind of Mystery.
Tem também publicado histórias em diversas revistas e antologias.
Entre outros, recebeu o Nelson Algren Award do Chicago Tribune, o Italo Calvino Short Fiction Award e três Prémios O. Henry - sendo um o primeiro lugar. É um dos escritores que integra a lista dos 21 nomes escolhidos para o Best of Young American Novelists da Granta, de 2007.
