Katherine Neville nasceu em St. Louis, Estados Unidos, em abril de 1945. Especialista em Administração e Gestão de Empresas, foi vice-presidente do Bank of America e consultora para a implementação de sistemas informáticos em organizações da área financeira e das energias, como a IBM e a OPEP.
Viveu em seis países e em três continentes, e em metade dos estados dos EUA. Dessa vasta experiência nasceu O Oito (1988), que se tornou rapidamente num dos maiores bestsellers mundiais. Vinte anos depois publicou a sua continuação, O Fogo. Ambos os títulos encontram-se editados em Portugal pela Porto Editora.
