Kate Pearce nasceu em Inglaterra, numa grande família onde todas eram raparigas, e passou grande parte da sua infância feliz num mundo de sonhos. Sempre lhe disseram que tinha de «fazer o correto», portanto estudou História e formou-se com distinção pela University College of Wales. Depois do fim do curso entrou na vida real e trabalhou em finanças, carreira que não era a melhor opção para uma futura escritora.
Finalmente, mudou-se para os Estados Unidos, o que lhe permitiu realizar o seu sonho de escrever um romance. Para além de ser uma leitora voraz, Kate gosta de fazer caminhadas com a família pelos parques regionais da Califórnia.
