Junichiro Tanizaki

Junichiro Tanizaki , um dos mais importantes escritores japoneses de sempre, nasceu em 1886, em Tóquio, onde a sua família era proprietária de uma tipografia.
Estudou literatura japonesa na Universidade Imperial de Tóquio. Recebeu o Imperial Award for Cultural Merit, em 1949. Em 1964, foi eleito Membro Honorário da American Academy e do National Institut of Arts and Letters, sendo o primeiro escritor japonês a receber essa honra. Tanizaki morreu em 1965.
