Julia R. Kelly cresceu numa casa sem televisão, a ler tudo o que podia. Enquanto professora de inglês, transmitiu o seu amor pelas histórias à próxima geração de leitores e escritores. Desde que passou a utilizar uma cadeira de rodas, Julia aprendeu a apreciar ainda mais as viagens que a palavra escrita pode proporcionar. Vive em Herefordshire, Inglaterra, com o seu companheiro e, juntos, educaram cinco crianças maravilhosas.
Como escritora, foi nomeada para o Mslexia Novel Prize, o Exeter Novel Prize, o Penguin WriteNow e o Bath Novel Award. Em 2021, ganhou o Blue Pencil Agency First Novel Award. A Oferenda do Pescador é o seu romance de estreia.
