Jostein Gaarder

Nascido em Oslo, em 1952, Jostein Gaarder foi durante vários anos professor de Filosofia numa escola secundária em Bergen. Desde os anos 1980, publicou diversos contos e romances, tendo sido distinguido com importantes prémios literários. O Mundo de Sofia foi publicado pela primeira vez na Noruega em 1991, constituindo desde logo um extraordinário êxito de vendas. Publicado em mais de 60 países, venceu importantes prémios. A Editorial Presença publica a obra do autor em Portugal. Jostein Gaarder vive em Oslo, com a mulher e os dois filhos.
