Josh Malerman iniciou-se cedo na escrita, é fã acérrimo do terror, e gosta de escrever ao som de bandas sonoras de filmes do género.
Às Cegas, o seu romance de estreia, foi bastante aclamado pela crítica, tendo sido nomeado para vários prémios como: Melhor Romance de Estreia do Bram Stoker Award (2014), Shirley Jackson Award (2014), Melhor Livro de Terror do Goodreads Choice Award (2014) e ainda o prémio James Herbert (2015).
Josh Malerman vive atualmente em Ferndale, no Michigan, com a noiva.
