José Silva foi o criador do Método Silva e pioneiro na pesquisa sobre como despertar o poder da mente. José Silva era um humilde reparador de rádios em Laredo, no Texas (E.U.A.). O interesse em hipnose e no funcionamento da mente humana levaram-no a estudar o trabalho de grandes líderes de pensamento como Freud, Jung e Adler. Em 1966, após 24 anos de investigação, criou o Método Silva de Controlo Mental, que continua a ser ministrado por instrutores credenciados em seminários e eventos em todo o mundo.
