José Ramos Tinhorão

José Ramos Tinhorão nasceu em Santos, no Brasil, a 7 de fevereiro de 1928. Depois de se mudar para o Rio de Janeiro, em 1938, formou-se em Direito e em Filosofia e tem-se dedicado ao jornalismo e, principalmente, à investigação na área da Música e da Etnografia. Autor de uma vasta bibliografia, principalmente da música brasileira, publicou na Editorial Caminho os seguintes títulos: Os Negros em Portugal. Uma Presença Silenciosa; Fado: Dança do Brasil, Cantar de Lisboa, o Fim do Mito; As Origens da Canção Urbana; Domingos Caldas Barbosa – O Poeta da Viola, da Modinha e do Lundu (1740-1800); O Rasga: Uma Dança Negro-Africana.
