José Pedro Leite nasceu no porto a 12 de abril de 1981. Sempre escreveu, e quase sempre viveu perto do mar. Licenciou-se em direito pela Universidade Católica. Foi, durante alguns anos, professor do ensino secundário. entre 2014 e 2018 colaborou com a Editora Estratégias Criativas, no departamento de poesia e literatura. Tem publicados cinco livros, todos de poesia: "Outros litorais" (2008); "As mãos e o lume" (2009), vencedor do Prémio Políbio Gomes dos Santos; "Respiração vertical" (2011), obra que obteve uma menção honrosa no âmbito do Prémio Irene Lisboa em 2013; e "O conhecimento dos vulcões" (2015).
