José Mário Silva nasceu em Paris (1972) e mora em Lisboa.
Licenciou-se em Biologia mas acabou por enveredar pelo Jornalismo em 1993, altura em que começou a trabalhar para o Diário de Notícias.
É autor de três livros: dois de poesia, Nuvens e Labirintos (com o qual ganhou o Prémio Literário Cidade de Almada) e Luz Indecisa, e um de contos (O Efeito Borboleta e outras histórias).
É, atualmente, crítico literário e coordenador da secção de Livros do jornal Expresso.
Faz, com Inês Bernardo, o podcast Biblioteca de Bolso.
