José Madureira Pinto é Professor Catedrático Aposentado do Grupo de Ciências Sociais da Faculdade de Economia da UPorto, onde se licenciou. Doutorou-se em Sociologia pelo ISCTE em 1982. É investigador do Instituto de Sociologia da UPorto e membro da sua Comissão Executiva. Foi consultor do Presidente Jorge Sampaio para a Área da Economia, Desenvolvimento e Sociedade entre 1996 e 2006.
