Escritor português, nasceu em 1900, no Porto, e morreu em 1985, em Lisboa. A sua poesia encontra-se coligida em Poeta Militante (6 vols., 1977-78). No domínio da ficção, publicou O Mundo dos Outros (1950), Aventuras Maravilhosas de João Sem Medo (1963), Tempo Escandinavo (1969) e O Irreal Quotidiano (1971). Merecem também referência as suas memórias, com o título A Memória das Palavras (ou o Gosto de Falar de Mim) (1965). Da sua escrita ressalta uma grande preocupação humanística, com constante atenção aos problemas do nosso tempo, glosando temas como a liberdade, a dignidade humana e a solidariedade para com os outros, sobretudo no sofrimento.
