José da Costa Oliveira

José da Costa Oliveira was born in 1945 in a small, isolated place in the parish of Refojos, in the municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto. It was during the crisis at the end of the Second World War. He was the firstborn of a poor farming couple who would have four more children. After finishing the fourth grade, which he completed with distinction despite his parents' difficulties, he spent his entire adolescence and part of his youth working as a shepherd and agricultural laborer.
He began his secondary studies at the age of 22 while fulfilling his mandatory military service. At 34, already working in a bank, he graduated in Economics from the University of Porto. At 55, he completed a postgraduate degree in Finance, also at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto.
He has worked as an economist in almost every sector, from banking to the associative sector, including industries such as metallurgy, textiles, and civil construction and public works. Currently, he works as an economic and financial consultant as a self-employed professional.
In a completely amateurish manner, he has been writing articles for a newspaper since September 1998. In 2007, he published a book of chronicles with Papiro Editora. Chronicles of Basto and the WorldIn 2008, he published the novel with Papiro Editora. The Nose of the World.
