Jorge Zentner
Jorge Zentner was born in Argentina in 1953, where he completed his studies in Psychology and Journalism, while simultaneously beginning to work as a journalist in radio and print media. In 1977, for political reasons, he was forced to leave his country of origin. He then went to Israel, Spain, and France. 1979 marks his meeting with Carlos Sampayo. The publication of his first comic strip, "L'Agent de La National," dates from 1982 and is a joint work with Sampayo and Chiaffino. However, it was in Spain, in 1981, that he met Ruben Pellejero, the illustrator with whom he would later work and for whom he would create most of his storylines. From this collaboration emerged, in 1983, "Les mémoires de M. Griffaton," which presents the extraordinary adventures of a hotel doorman, and, in 1984, "FM fréquence modulée," a series of short narratives about the destabilizing role of modern communication. 1986 marks the appearance of Dieter Lumpen, also signed by Pellejero, of which 4 volumes would be published. In 1996, the album "Le Silence de Malka" was released, signed by both of them, which, in addition to being applauded by critics, won the Alph’art Award for Best Foreign Album (Angoulême, 1997) and in which, for the first time, Zentner draws inspiration from his family history in Bessarabie and his grandparents' emigration to Argentina. From 2000 onwards, Jorge Zentner began working with other illustrators such as David Sala (Replay, 2000) and Santos de Vera Cruz (Flamenco, 2002). "Aromm - Destino Nómada", whose Portuguese edition is now being presented by ASA, is originally dated May 2002 and is signed by Pellejero, his longtime collaborator.
